Neighbors InDeed currently relies on city support for some of the tools and monies needed for property cleanups. Our goal is to greatly reduce this reliance by providing tools, expertise and other resources ourselves, simply as neighbors. This will help stretch city funds so they are available for others in need.
The biggest savings to the city will be around the cost of dumpsters and dump vouchers. Having the proper tools will allow this to happen. Reducing the amount of tree waste that goes to our landfills is a quick way to reduce the need for dumpsters and is easily reachable with your support. Shredding branches (that are free of disease and pests) on site and using them in the yard or disposing of them with the regular trash pickup (if diseased) is a good long term solution that doesn’t depend on the whims of the city budget and builds community among neighbors.
